John Marshall High School  School-Wide Learner Outcomes

Graduates from Marshall High School will use 21st Century skills demonstrated by the ability to:

1.  Think critically and solve problems. Students will:  

  • Evaluate evidence, compare challenging claims, and make decisions
  • Create connections between information and arguments
  • Interpret information and draw conclusions based on analysis  
  • Reflect on learning experiences and processes 

2.  Communicate effectively. Students will:  

  • Articulate thoughts and ideas in a variety of forms and contexts 
  • Listen to interpret meaning in various contexts  
  • Inform, instruct, motivate, and persuade in a variety of contexts
  • Employ multiple media and technologies 

3.  Collaborate effectively. Students will:  

  • Work together to solve unfamiliar problems in conventional and innovative ways  
  • Work effectively and respectfully with diverse teams   
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to accomplish a common goal 

4. Create and innovate. Students will:  

  • Use a wide range of idea creation techniques   
  • Elaborate, refine, analyze, and evaluate original ideas to improve creative efforts  
  • Be open and responsive to new and diverse perspectives
  • Use a variety of technologies to identify and solve problems by creating new, useful, or imaginative solutions  
  • Appreciate the arts

6. Live a balanced lifestyle. Students will:

  • Balance sleep, play, digital connectedness and work/study
  • Understand how to use coping strategies
